In the international competition for formula student cars concluded on 29 July, the College, in partnership with Ural State University of Railway Transport, achieved remarkable results.
The competition took place at the Igora Circuit in St. Petersburg, Russia, and is recognized as one of the top university formula competitions globally. It attracted numerous teams from universities in Russia, China, Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, and other countries. Over five days, the joint team successfully passed vehicle structure, safety performance, and brake inspections, and completed business presentations on design and cost. They secured third place in three dynamic competition events: straight-line acceleration, single-lap timing, and figure-eight stability driving.
To prepare for the competition, both Chinese and Russian institutions began selecting candidates and conducting online training in the second half of 2023. The training encompassed various aspects, including vehicle design, cost calculation, vehicle manufacturing, testing, and driving techniques. Eleven faculty members and students from the College's Silk Road Academy (School of International Education) engaged in extensive training exchanges with Professor Vladimir's team from Ural State University of Railway Transport, laying a solid foundation for the team's excellent performance.
During the competition, the joint team competed and exchanged with outstanding university students from around the world, learning from each other's experiences in formula car design and manufacturing, and sharing insights on driving. Students from the College also showcased the good professional qualities and solid professional foundation of Chinese youth on the international stage, further establishing the international image and influence of Zhengzhou Railway Vocational & Technical College.
Throughout the competition, the College's participating faculty and students used VK, Russia's largest social platform, to introduce the cooperation and exchange activities of the joint team from both institutions.
