"First Prize" for the First Time! ZZRVTC Achieved a Historic Breakthrough in the National "Challenge Cup" Competition

The final of the 18thChallenge Cup National College Students Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition concluded at Guizhou University on October 30th.

The final of the 18thChallenge Cup National College Students Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition concluded at Guizhou University on October 30th. ZZRVTC made a remarkable debut in the national competition, with three works shortlisted for the main competition and one reaching the final round. After an intense competition, ZZRVTC won the first prize and two third prizes in the main competition. This was the first time we competed in the national final and won the first prize, achieving a historic breakthrough in the Challenge Cup. Mr. Xu Hongping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Labor Union, led the team in the competition and provided guidance to the participating teachers and students.

The project titled Research on the Current Situation of Revolutionary Cultural Inheritance and Contingent Path of Railway in the New Era: Based on the Search and Research of the Revolutionary Gene of Central Plains Railway, led by the student team of Li Xuehan under the guidance of Ms. Niu Liwei, was awarded the first prize in the Philosophy and Social Science category. In addition, the project SPS Polyurethane Steel Sandwich Structure Intelligent Wheel Stopper with Low Power Consumption Based on Electronic Fence Optimization Algorithmby the student team of Li Yonggang under the guidance ofMr. Liang Mingliang and the project Reading the World in a Square Inch: Generative Contents of Children's Reading Pen Based on the Big Language Modelby the student team led by Zhang Bowen under the guidance of Chu Yunhe both won the third prize in category B of Science and Technology Invention and Production. The competition attracted participation from more than 2,000 colleges and universities, more than 400,000 workers, and more than 2.5 million students. Out of the 1,745 works submitted to the main competition, 25 teams from our province were selected as finalists and won 2 grand prizes and 6 first prizes. Among them, ZZRVTC stood out as the only higher vocational college in the province to clinch a first prize.

The party committee of ZZRVTC has consistently placed significant emphasis on the scientific and technological innovation efforts of college students. The Challenge Cup not only serves as a crucial platform for fostering innovation and practical skills among young students but also functions as an ideological and political classroom, inspiring the majority of students to contribute to the nation through science and technology. In the project cultivation and selection process, ZZRVTC maintains a focus on projects that hold great significance for the country, aligning with its mission and the fundamental goal of effectively serving the development needs of major national strategies. Throughout the competition, the league committee of ZZRVTC took the initiative to invite authoritative experts from both inside and outside the school to provide comprehensive and face-to-face guidance to participating students. The committee made great efforts in refining project introduction ideas, document writing, on-site defense, dress etiquette, etc. These initiatives aimed to establish a robust foundation for achieving outstanding results in the competition. With unwavering enthusiasm and high morale, students dedicated themselves to thorough preparation for the competition, progressively enhancing the team's professional standards, collaborative abilities, and psychological resilience. Over a period of 10 months, the winning team meticulously prepared and refined their approach, showcasing excellent professional knowledge, a solid foundation in scientific research, and impressive on-site defense skills. This accomplishment reflects the hardworking spirit and youthful style of Iron College students, who consistently strive for breakthroughs and positive improvements.

It is noteworthy that the Challenge Cup series of competitions is often known as the “Olympics” for the scientific and technological innovation of college students in China. TheChallenge Cup National College Students Extracurricular Academic and Technological Work Competition, commonly referred to as the Challenge Cup, stands as one of the nine landmark initiatives under the national double high-levels plan.
