Official Opening of the China-Africa (Ethiopia) Zhan Tianyou Institute's First Teacher Training

On June 14th, the grand opening ceremony of the first phase of the Ethiopian teacher training program of the China-Africa (Ethiopia) Zhan Tianyou Institute was held. Bekele Atto, Vice President of Ethiopian Railways Corporation-Railway Academy, Duan Xiaofei, General Manager of CIIC International Education Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Ma Yuxia, President of ZZRVTC, Li Fusheng, Vice President of ZZRVTC, as well as the teams of various parties and representatives of trainers, attended the ceremony. Li Fusheng presided over the opening ceremony. 

In her speech, Ma Yuxia stated that ZZRVTC has a long history and strong comprehensive strength. In recent years, ZZRVTC has undertaken several projects, including talent training and technical service projects for the Kenya-Mombasa Railway, Ethiopia’s Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway, Saudi Arabia’s Mecca Light Railway, and China-Laos Railway, making a positive contribution to the Belt and Road initiative. The faculty training program aims to provide teachers of the China-Africa (Ethiopia) Zhan Tianyou Institute with a comprehensive understanding of China's vocational education and the overall situation of China's railways. It will also enable them to effectively grasp the teaching standards, teaching content, teaching methods, and assessment standards of Zhengzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College, ensuring the smooth implementation of the cooperative educational projects.

Bekele Atto expressed that this training is an important initiative for implementing the agreement on the joint construction of the China-Africa (Ethiopia) Zhan Tianyou Institute. The 25 Ethiopian teachers will devote themselves to participating in the training, earnestly learn about the relevant professional talent nurturing model and the successful experience of their Chinese peers, and strive to apply the latest knowledge and skills to the teaching of the cooperative projects.

Duan Xiaofei stated that CIIC International Education Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will continue to promote international cooperation in vocational education and provide full support for the construction of the China-Africa (Ethiopia) Zhan Tianyou Institute on various platforms. It will also strive to promote the healthy and sustainable development of the institute, hoping that both sides can work together to make successful arrangements for the training and successfully complete various training tasks.

After the opening ceremony, Ms. Niu Chenxu from the Locomotive and Rolling Stock College presented the first special report titled Overview of China's Rail Transit, which showed a comprehensive picture of China's rail transit construction from the development history of China's railways, the achievements of urban rail transit, and the manufacturing of rail transit equipment.

     Since the launch of the current round of Double-High Construction, ZZRVTC has established 3 overseas branch campuses in Ethiopia, Uganda, and the Philippines. It has also established 1 training base and 1 teaching center, which have trained over 1,900 overseas local technicians and 160 teachers and recruited 115 academic students in degree programs. The Ethiopian teacher training program is divided into three professional directions: railway locomotive operation and maintenance, comprehensive railway maintenance technology, and railway traffic operation management, with a total of 19 courses. The training runs from June 14th to August 11th.
