The Maze Robot event consists of virtual simulation, maze racing and presentation defense, with contestants controlling simulated maze robots to explore an unknown maze. By means of traverse search and intelligent algorithms, the robots must be able to pick the optimal path and make their way from the starting point to the finish line as soon as possible. The school attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' professional skills and innovation, and since May 2022, various functional departments and teaching units have been actively engaged in this project. The school set up a participating team and performed various training activities in advance of the competition. The Sino-Foreign team composed of student Zhang Kai and Panashe Chikowore, from the North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, were able to greatly improve their technical skills through intensive preparation and training. In this national competition, contestants have to complete a virtual simulation, maze racing, and presentation defense within the specified time. After the intense competition, ZZRVTCs team did well in the maze racing and presentation defense, and won a national outstanding award.

The first World Vocational Skills Competition was hosted by 35 government departments, including the Ministry of Education, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government. The competition was able to demonstrate new technological achievements in artificial intelligence and robotics, showcasing the technical abilities of ZZRVTC and promoting the transformation from competition success to international cooperation between industry, university and research institutes.
