Congratulations to you all. This is the big one. The end of formal education and the beginning of true adulthood. You’ve worked long and hard for this very important moment. A new end and a new beginning. This is the moment when all the hard work pays off.

The job. The career. Hopefully you will even enjoy it, if you’re lucky or if you work at enjoying it. Finishing college doesn’t mean you should retire your ability to learn. Your future employer will certainly value your ability to educate yourself and improve. And while English may not play a part in your future, for some of you it will. Each year, English becomes more relevant in China. Hospitals and businesses are dealing with foreign companies and English is not only something to be used in the classroom.

I know from firsthand experience that doctors, nurses, teachers, and businessmen are all learning English to improve their careers. I encourage you to keep your English alive and build upon what you already know. Students are learning it at a younger age than you did. The last thing you want for your future is to discover ten years from now that the next generation of new employees are better suited than you to be a valuable asset to your employer. Continue educating yourself. Be relevant to the future, always relevant.

Your ability to change and to grow is your greatest asset. My hμmble sμggestion is that you don’t waste it. This is my advice, free of charge and from the heart.

I do of course wish you well for your future.

I wish you all the rewards that life has to offer, all the challenges that build us into who we are, and I wish you happiness. I hope you will make your path and be successful. Success is different for everyone and I encourage you to find out what it means to you, and take it.

     Thank you for your time.

     Good luck.
